Wynnum North Reserve Circuit - boardwalkThis circuit leads you past manicured lawns and patches of native plants to a bird hide overlooking a roosting site of migratory and shore birds. During spring migratory birds on the Asia-Pacific flight path rest here, so be on the look out for eastern curlews and bar-tailed godwits.

It is fantastic to observe all the birds from the comfort and shade of the hide out. Be sure to take your binoculars along to spot some of the species. All pathways are wheel chair accessible.

The circuit returns via a mangrove boardwalk. This 350m boardwalk shows off a forest of grey mangroves as well as a small number of red mangroves. Keep your eyes peeled as the mangroves not only house birds, but also provide shelter for other animals. We spotted skinks as well as a possum curled up inside one of the trees.  More photos.

You appreciate all of this even more knowing that not too long ago this used to be a refuse tip!
