This park is situated 25 km south-east of Brisbane. It features eucalypt forest, paperbark wetlands and large picnic areas with barbeque facilities. An added attraction to this park is Daisy Hill Koala Centre (currently closed for refurbishment).
The centre offers the opportunity to see koalas up close and to learn what we could do to protect not only the species but also their habitat. About 130 koalas call the surrounding bushland home.
There are a few walking tracks of which we did two. The Paperbark Trail is a very short 450m return walk with information boards about the wildlife along the way. The Tree Discovery Trail is 800m return walk where you can learn about and identify different trees.
Branching off this trail is the Spotted Gum Trail (4km return). The other trails to explore are the Stringybark Trail (5.7km) and the Buhot Creek Circuit (9km return).
We enjoyed the company of several Wallabies, even a mum with a joey in her pouch! Horse riding and mountain biking are permitted on all tracks except the Paperbark Trail and the Tree Discovery Trail. More photos.
