Can you believe that in 2009 we experience the 105th annual Pine Rivers Show? It made for a fun filled and action packed day out with the family. What made it even more attractive for families was that primary school children were admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. The kids also received passports which were stamped by various stall holders. These then became their entry tickets to go into the draw for a bike.
We visited on Sunday and were delighted to find an old favourite: the Ashton Circus! There were four shows throughout the day. In between the circus performances the tent was used by other entertainers like AKA Lain Hip Hop dancing and African Drums.
Inside the halls we marvelled at traditional exhibitions like needlecraft, arts and crafts, vegetables, flower arrangements and photography. There were also a few new exhibitions to the show like the Boer and commercial goat section as well as the Travelling Fish Tank Show. It is quite entertaining seeing the fish’s reaction to the different lures.
We tried our hands at bowling which is not as easy as it looks! As our youngest is a dog person, we spent a little time enjoying the flyball dog demonstrations before heading over to the food court.
There was so much going on over the course of the weekend that I would like to list a few of the exhibitions and shows to wet your appetite for next year:
- Ute muster
- Show dogs
- Poultry show
- Wood chopping
- Pig racing
- Side show alley
- Trade display
- Blacksmith and sheep shearing
- Reptile talks
- Live koalas
